“Your feet have an influence on your posture and biomechanics. This means the footwear you choose to wear must be able to absorb the high impact between your foot and the ground. Therefore, it is essential to look for a pair of shoes that will cushion, absorb and protect your feet.
Shoe Sizes Differ with Brands
We advise everybody to go and get your feet measured in order to know your standard shoe size. Don’t forget that depending on the style of shoe, the fit may differ, which means you might either need to go up or down a size (half if applicable) to achieve the support your feet need.
Try to go shoe shopping in the afternoon, as feet tend to naturally swell as the day goes on, meaning new shoes are accommodating your feet comfortably – prioritise comfort over size. As mentioned, sizes are a guide and can vary depending on the shoe style and type of socks you wear, so you may find yourself going up a size or half if the shoe is a little tight.
Ill-Fitting Shoes Can Cause Health Issue
There are 33 joints, 26 bones and over 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments in your feet. An incorrect fit can affect your feet over an extended period of time and can cause more harm than you think or even contribute to knee, back or neck pain.
